Reports on activities of the Ministries of Justice, Diaspora, Finance and Foreign Affairs and the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia summed up

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, the Government continued to consider the performance evaluations of state administration bodies of the Republic of Armenia and the reports on implementation of the 2016 Action Plan of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the priority objectives. Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan reported on the results of implementation of the 2016 Action Plan and the priority objectives.

Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan reported that, in the course of the previous year, 150 draft legal acts, including draft legal acts on the Human Rights Defender, political parties, local self-government bodies, NGOs, draft legal acts of anti-corruption nature and other draft legal acts had been developed. The draft laws "On making amendments and supplements to the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia" and "On making amendments and supplements to the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia", by which it is envisaged to bring private legal relations into line with modern approaches, have been submitted to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has adopted the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On probation" and the package of related laws for the execution of types of non-custodial sentence, the implementation of surveillance when punishment is conditionally not applied and when there is conditional early release from punishment and the implementation of social re-integration measures by the newly established Probation Service. The Working Group developing the draft of the new Penitentiary Code of the Republic of Armenia has developed the draft of the new Penitentiary Code of the Republic of Armenia, envisaging the introduction of a new system for punishments.

The adoption of the new Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia will envisage bringing the mechanism for legal regulation of criminal law relations into line with the current requirements. The draft of the protocol decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia "On approving the Concept Paper on Modernisation of Medical Services at Penitentiary Institutions" has been developed, and the final version of the protocol decision has been submitted by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia to the Staff of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. A number of other activities have also been carried out.

Arpine Hovhannisyan noted that the priority objectives for the year 2017 include examination of the legislation regulating the sector and, if necessary, development of draft legal acts to ensure the legal grounds for providing electronic services in judicial processes, introduction of electronic software for applying to the court electronically and for creating an electronic court case, identification of corruption risks within the System of Compulsory Enforcement and implementation of reforms aimed at eliminating them, etc.

Prime Minister Karapetyan attached importance to the consistent development and submission by the Ministry of Justice of draft legal acts of anti-corruption nature, as well as the actions of the Ministry of Justice aimed at making the provided services more accessible for the public.
