Deputy Minister of Justice receives OSCE/ODIHR delegation

Today, Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan received the delegation of the OSCE/ODIHR.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues related to law-making processes.

The aim of the visit of the delegation was to assess the needs that emerge during co-operation between the legislative and executive powers within the scope of legislative initiatives and contribute to the capacity-building of interested parties during co-operation.

In her welcoming speech, the Deputy Minister attached importance to the development and improvement of the process of drafting laws through co-operation with international partners, making them more transparent and inclusive.

Kristinne Grigoryan introduced the members of the delegation to the whole chain of the law-making process, emphasising that the incumbent Parliament has significantly increased legislative initiatives, in the context of which importance was attached to the institutional capacity-building of the Parliament in order to promote smooth co-operation between the legislative and executive powers. The Deputy Minister also attached importance to the co-ordination of activities for the creation of working groups for legislative initiatives, the principles of legislative planning, as well as the activities of different committees and factions.

In response to the questions of the members of the delegation, Kristinne Grigoryan touched upon public access to the draft laws of the Government through an electronic platform for public discussion, as well as presented the logic of law-making initiatives of various departments, describing the process of strategic planning, within the scope of which the content of the legislative drafts of departments are earmarked in the sequential period.

Summing up the meeting, the parties expressed willingness for ongoing co-operation.
