Minister of Justice receives Head of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia

On 21 May, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan received Head of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia Natalia Voutova.

Artak Zeynalyan highly appreciated the co-operation with the Council of Europe and assured that the projects launched would be implemented with greater effort.

Head of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia Natalia Voutova congratulated Artak Zeynalyan on the occasion of being appointed to the office of Minister of Justice and underlined that the Council of Europe, represented by the Office in Yerevan, had the most effective and excellent co-operation with the Ministry of Justice.

During the meeting, the Minister discussed with his European counterpart joint projects currently being implemented and the perspectives of co-operation and particularly touched upon the activities aimed at improving healthcare services provided at penitentiary institutions and in the probation system.

Deputy Head of the CoE Office in Yerevan confirmed the willingness of the Council of Europe to support the provision of expert opinions within the scope of capacity-building of the staff of the Probation Service and within the scope of legislative reforms.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Justice and the Head of the CoE Office in Yerevan discussed co-operation programmes also in the legal and judicial spheres and expressed willingness to deepen the partnership.
