Minister Zeynalyan on working visit to Austria

From 12-13 July, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan participated in the informal meeting of justice and home affairs ministers of the European Union and Eastern Partnership in Innsbruck, Austria. The meeting was organised within the framework of the Austrian Chairmanship with the purpose of discussing the issues related to strengthening of rule of law and more effective mechanisms for combating corruption in the judiciary in Eastern Partnership countries.

Within the framework of the informal meeting of justice and home affairs ministers of the European Union and Eastern Partnership, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan had bi-lateral meetings with European Union Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Yurova, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Austria Josef Moser, as well as Head of the International Anti-Corruption Academy Martin Kreutner.

During the meeting with the EU Commissioner, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia presented the priorities of the new Government established as a result of the velvet revolution in the Republic of Armenia in May 2018, touching upon the activities being carried out in combating corruption and the need for reforming the Electoral Code. The parties also discussed the possibilities of further assistance of the European Union for reforms in the justice sector. At the end of the meeting, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan invited European Union Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Yurova to Armenia.

During the working meetings that took place with Minister of Justice of Austrian Republic Josef Moser, as well as with Head of the International Anti-Corruption Academy Martin Kreutner, the parties touched upon the expansion and deepening of the formats for bilateral co-operation.
