Subsequent session of the Steering Committee of the EU Budget Support Project on “Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia” was held

On 26 September, the subsequent session of the Steering Committee of the EU Budget Support Project on “Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia” was held. Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan; Head of Unit Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Eastern Partnership of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Vassilis Maragos; Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski; Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan; UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Armenia Shombi Sharp; officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia, the Police of the Republic of Armenia and others participated in the meeting.

During the session, the Armenian party presented the process of activities carried out for ensuring general (only regarding the Action Plan for Human Rights Protection) and special preconditions of the EU Budget Support Project on ''Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia'', as well as the issues related to implementation of the Project.

The support of the European Union as one of the main partners for the reforms in the field of human rights protection in Armenia, as well as the need for continuity of joint efforts were highlighted during the discussion.
