Workshop on the implementation of Plan of Action deriving from the Strategy on Human Rights Protection

26/02/2016

Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan and UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative Bradley Busetto partook in the workshop on the implementation of the Plan of Actions deriving from the Strategy on Human Rights Protection.

Stressing the importance of organising discussions in such a format, the Minister noted that the human rights protection is the most important guarantee which must be continually improved and established institutionally.

Arpine Hovhannisyan assured that the Government will be consistent in ensuring the effectiveness of human rights and freedoms as well as steps aimed at the protection thereof, also stressing the importance of co-operation with international and local partners in this regard.

According to UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative Bradley Busetto, the Plan of Actions aimed at human rights is rather ambitious. He expressed his satisfaction with the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the civil society for the efforts made in the implementation of that programme and taking a step forward in this sector and extended thanks to the Ministry of Justice for co-ordinating the activities in an effective way.

Representatives of both the Government and non-governmental organisations participated in the two-day workshop.
